Connect your work account
Open OnlineHours → Connections → Microsoft Teams → Connect. Choose the work account whose availability you want to manage. This cloud connection does not accept personal Teams Free accounts.
After connection, choose Set hours. A new schedule starts paused. Enable it or start a timed session when ready. Stop ends renewals; Microsoft can take up to five minutes to expire the last presence session. Meetings and manually selected statuses may take priority.
If Microsoft shows Need admin approval
Your organization requires administrator approval for this connection. If getting approval is not an option, we’re sorry we can’t help with this account. Checking compatibility is free, and a failed connection does not start a new trial. Your trial begins after your first successful connection.
If you are able to get approval, you can use the information below. After approval, return to Connections and select Connect again with your own work account. Approval alone does not connect your account or start a schedule.
Information for your administrator
OnlineHours requests delegated Microsoft Graph permissions: User.Read for the signed-in account’s identity, Presence.Read to read its availability, and Presence.ReadWrite to manage its availability. It also requests openid and profile for sign-in and offline_access to renew the connection. No chat, message, file, mailbox or directory-wide permissions are requested.
Review OnlineHours in Microsoft Entra → Enterprise applications → Permissions. Verify the app identity and requested permissions before granting consent. Where assignment restrictions are used, assign the intended users as well. Your organization can keep user consent restricted.
The current test application is named OnlineHours and has application ID ca8f05eb-e3dd-4f3e-adc0-4b0fe35d5f7d. Microsoft currently labels its publisher unverified. Publisher verification is separate from your organization’s decision to permit the app.
Control and disconnect
Each employee connects their own Microsoft account and controls their schedule. Disconnect in OnlineHours stops its cloud scheduling and deletes the stored access credentials. An administrator can also revoke access in Microsoft Entra.
The Teams cloud flow has been tested in our Microsoft test organization. Another company can apply additional sign-in, device or application policies. If permission is denied, the connection remains incomplete; OnlineHours does not silently fall back to another account.
Common questions
Must every customer obtain administrator approval?
No. It depends on the organization’s consent and sign-in policies. The delegated presence permission does not itself require admin consent, but organizational policy can still require it.
Can I fix the restriction by installing an extension?
No. An extension does not grant the Microsoft cloud connection permission. Ask your administrator to review the application.
Does approval give OnlineHours control of everyone’s status?
Employees must still sign in and connect their own accounts. This integration uses delegated access, not an application permission to manage every user in the directory.
