Start with a short session

Open Apps → Teams and choose Teams Connector or Microsoft sign-in. Teams in your browser at teams.live.com uses the Teams Connector, the recommended method. Work and school accounts use Microsoft sign-in. New connections start paused; check a short session before enabling recurring hours.

Check availability from a separate account while the connected account’s Teams clients are closed. Provider observations and the status visible to other people are separate checks.

Teams decides the final status

Teams combines presence from different sessions. A preferred status or a Busy or Do not disturb session can take priority over Available. Allow time for updates to reach other clients.

Choose hours when you want to be reachable, and use Stop when that changes. Scheduling an availability request does not mean every Teams state becomes green.

Microsoft sign-in and organization approval

For work and school accounts, Microsoft sign-in requests profile and delegated presence permissions, not chat or file permissions. The personal Teams Connector is a different method: its session credential can carry broader account access, although OnlineHours does not request conversation history or store messages.

Your organization may require administrator approval. Once approved, each employee connects their own account. Server scheduling requires active OnlineHours access and a valid connection. Check a trial session before relying on recurring hours.

Common questions

Can OnlineHours keep Teams green with my laptop closed?

Yes. OnlineHours sends availability requests from its servers while your Teams clients and laptop are closed. The connection must remain valid. Personal Teams uses an imported session that expires and needs a fresh code; it is not renewed automatically.

Does the cloud connection work with a personal Microsoft account?

Microsoft sign-in uses Graph presence for work and school accounts. A personal account uses the separate Teams Connector, a free Chrome extension, instead. Its imported session expires and is not automatically renewed; check availability in the dashboard before setup.

Will Available replace a meeting or Do not disturb?

Not necessarily. Teams applies its own presence priorities, including preferred states and other active sessions.
